URBAN REGENERATION:

THE CASE OF SALOU, A WORKING METHOD

ABSTRACT

An exploratory methodology was first defined and implemented to describe and analyze and later make a diagnosis of the urban processes behind the deterioration of the area surrounding Carles Buigas Avenue in Salou. Likewise, the exploratory method supports complex urban environments where multiple stakeholders take part and there are very few references of similar experiences.

This process helps the development of hypotheses by researchers that are not familiar with the context.

Furthermore, the scales of the work are detailed, making reference to the territory, the city and the setting study area. This procedure makes it possible to comprehend other values and conditions from the urban complexity, the overlap of activities in the tourism/city/industry area, or the seasonal problem of the area remaining empty for most of the year.
