URBAN PROPOSAL FOR THE CITY- PORT INTERFACE

The Barcelona City-Port interface is under continue transformation. The limit between the urban port and the industrial logistic area is under movement and is being continually displaced south, opposite to urban positions, in search for areas where to minimize conflict between urban and port activities. At the same time, physically constrained the city of Barcelona is in search for space to provide houses to new comers.
This proposal link port and urban interest through the creation of a continue slab that facilities logistic activities under while permits urban activities above, provide space to enlarge today’s straitjacketed transport infrastructures and solve the link between the city and the bigger park in town, Montjuïc.

THIRD DOCUMENT: PROPOSAL PROJECT FOR THE AV. CARLES BUIGAS

A proposal was developed to give priority to pedestrians. Thus, vehicles are only able to access if they are delivery vehicles, first-aiders or neighbours accessing parking lots. The section of the street is uniform and continuous. The axis is located 11m from the south building façade and 19 from the north building façade.
From the 8m that shops irregularly took from the building plots, 4m were kept and 4 removed. Through this strategy, the street can be widened by 8m and shop fronts renovated and unified, improving their conditions and image. At the same time, to foster a temporary occupation of the street, a new structure was added in the centre of the section to provide shade and infrastructure support for commercial activities.
